BOSTON, May 11, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Converted Organics Inc. (Nasdaq:COIN) announced today that Company sales in the Professional Lawn Care market have increased by 200 percent, versus same-period sales in 2009.
It is estimated that 10 million homeowners utilize professional lawn care companies each year, resulting in 3.8 million acres of land being treated with fertilizer programs. "Increasingly, lawn care companies are getting customer requests for all-natural, organic based programs as opposed to synthetic chemical fertilizer programs, because they are perceived to be safer. Until now, organic fertilizers available to lawn care companies are derived from chicken waste or bio-solids (treated sewer sludge), both of which possess inherent weaknesses, such as odor, low coverage, and negative public perception, which leave many companies on the hunt for a better organic fertilizer product," said David A. Flannery, Vice President of Marketing for Converted Organics Inc.
The all-natural, organic formula of Converted Organics is produced from recycled food waste and is manufactured in dry, granular formulas for professional lawn care applications. "A number of national lawn care companies are now ordering our product in bulk, due to its positive price and performance attributes, and the compelling environmental story behind our company," said Flannery. "Companies are now able to offer customers a very rich, highly effective organic fertilizer, which keeps food out of landfills, and thus helps reduce carbon emissions. We find companies leveraging our story to help grow their own business, by choosing to offer our products and the powerful story behind them, which is something that seems to really resonate with consumers," Flannery added.
